Outlook 2003 IMAP Configuration

Outlook can be used to access Exchange using secure IMAP

Follow the steps below to configure Outlook to use IMAP with UConn's Exchange server.

  1. Open Outlook 2003, go to the Tools menu, and choose E-mail Accounts.

  3. Choose Add a new e-mail account, then click Next.

  5. Choose IMAP, then click Next

  7. Fill in the e-mail accounts window
  • Your Name: Your full name.
  • E-mail Address: Your UConn personal name e-mail address.
  • Incoming Mail Server: exchange.uconn.edu
  • Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.uconn.edu. Click here for more information.
  • User name: NetID (abc01001)
  • Password: Your Exchange/NetID password

  1. Click on More Settings type in UConn Exchange as the account Name, then click on the Advanced tab.

  3. Type in 993 as the server port number, then put a check on This server requires a secure connection (SSL) for the Incoming Server (IMAP).

  5. Click OK.
  6. Click Next, then click Finish.
  7. You will receive the message that your account has been successfully set up.

Outlook will now be set up to use IMAP with UConn's Exchange server.
